Behind The Concept

This blog uses the Sims3 to create a story for your enjoyment. You may be familiar with other sims3 story blogs but this one is a little different. This blog has several authors that take turns writing each post. Doing this isn’t as easy as it sounds and so daily posts are not possible, instead you can expect a post every four or five days. Everything seen in the neighborhood the authors have taken part in creating, this has influenced our writing style as well. Instead of being about just one character it will be much like a soap opera focusing on the lives of many characters. While all the authors know a little background about all the characters and the general concept of their purpose nothing has been written yet. Each author will write posts in their own style and as they please and the next author will do the same continuing from where the previous author left off. Meezletoe came up with the idea and it took a lot of preparation to make possible but now it is and we hope you enjoy it. :)

*********

So….Yo, Meezletoe here. Well….I’ll explain the thought process I suppose.

I was reading Mikayla’s story (The Story of Clair Silverson), and she had an ‘Explaining the Story’ section, so I clicked. I read it, and I got to the part where she mentioned how Kansine’s main character in Cessalin’s Chronicles was going to be in her story too, and other painfully ambiguous hints concerning the future of Clair’s story (damn writers and their cliffhangers, am I right?).

So, naturally, Meezletoe got confused and wondered what Kansine’s people were doing in Mikayla’s Sim Story (you got peanut butter in my chocolate). So I asked Mikayla if this was turning into some sort of fan-fiction because my brain was fried and then I had this whole idea, so I blogged about it, the end.

Really, that was my thought process. I’m sure you can see how some pieces of the yarn does have a logical path there *points* and there, but that’s about as sensible as it gets. The yarn exists to confuse you. Nothing more.

So, I had my idea, and my blog entry, and Meezletoe isn’t cool enough to have a fan base, so I decided to spam 4 other people’s blogs about it, and they all responded because the world is full of love, and they ended up liking my idea (like everyone else in this world should, I have a lot of great ideas. Like my destroy-the-world LEVER. Oh, twist. Buttons are so overrated). They all said that they were in within their first comments. Can you imagine the tears of joy that I shed? Oh, the eagerness of our online society – it warms my heart and makes my features become angelic (yeah I read manga, so what).

So, here’s the idea: It’s like a game of pass-back – whatever version you’re thinking of, be it sports or in writing, it’s probably related. The first person will have the saved game, play the character and neighborhood for a certain time period while taking pics, and through a series of painfully, mind-numbingly, and exhausting complicated procedures, which we advise you against attempting, pass it on to the next person (there’s an order). That person will do the same and it’ll be a cycle. It’ll be posted online as a Sims 3 Story. Each author will use their own voice to tell the story, and will be allowed to take the story in pretty much any direction they want, with some necessary limitations (long-term commitment related, such as marriages and careers). For important decisions like this, we might settle things by vote, either among the authors or by the readers. (Hooray for interactive stories! Woo-o-o-o!) For our story we decided to re-do the entire Sunset Valley neighborhood, building our own houses and putting new people in – it gets a little boring seeing the same thing in every person’s Sim story or legacy, so we’re mixing it up a bit to keep things fresh and different. The characters aren’t just random strangers though; we’ve created back stories for each character, as well as with the town (Celera is responsible for this awesome-ness – if she hadn’t come in this would’ve been tooootally different and not as…well, awesome). So, in this case, there are pieces of yarn but they do serve a purpose and eventually lead back to the yarn-wad.

By the way, it turns out that Kansine and Mikayla are borrowing each other’s characters, how cool is that? ♫

So, everyone got excited, Meezletoe started blushing and giggling like a 6-year old girl, and Sam ended up being the brains behind the operation. I thought up the idea for the Titanic and Sam started working on the blueprints as I watched with a clueless expression on my face, applauding like a monkey. Celera started working on the Interior Design of the whole ship (she had, by the way, had a similar idea, so that proves that I’m not totally insane), and Kansine, instead of settling to be the cheerleader as the scientists tested if the experiment would be able to work on all the computers (and Kansine’s), also found a lot of good ideas and points with Mikayla and threw them into the pot. Everyone was discussing and thinking and blowing stuff up and such.

Confession time – I just wanted to say that I was really excited for Kansine to be on board too, because she’s so G and she knows what sort of magic spices to add to stories. Also, Mikayla asked a lot of questions that I had secretly also been wondering about, but I was too much of an observer (coward) to ask for myself. Also, I liked the way she changed the whole picture thing up in Clair’s story and figured that she probably had other interesting tricks. Sam and Celera made me jealous, and I took to creating Voo-Doo Meezletoe-Dolls to vent out my frustration after realizing that I’ve always been the Idea-person, and that’s about as far as I get (and then dancing because there are people like Sam around to take control and make ideas come to life – er – Sim Life).

And I just wanted to say that this has been the coolest (better than yours, reader) and most Zen group to ever work on a project in the history of forever (the history of the future is included in the book of forever). I know it’s usually a problem if the group always arrives to consensus, but it’s been all good expressing ourselves and voicing our opinions and it just proves – undeniably – that women (FEMALE, LYK OBVIOUSLY, OMIGOSH) are better than men.

Bye. ^^ ♥

            • November 8, 2009 8:04 pm

Since you mentioned liking smilies representing pain and suffering (I’m surprised people think it’s weird XD bahaha), I also like these: :’) :’D when I’m in pain/suffering. XO < That does look like an axe wielding maniac, but I see it shaking it's little yellow head rather than just running with an axe like a normal (well, i say normal XD ) axe wielding maniac.

Here’s one I made to annoy my friend:

      llllllllll
      (@)’_'(@)

It’s supposed to be a chubby person with a buzz cut, but the ””’ won’t work right I think. XD So I used L’s. (went to ‘edit comment’ to align it)
      (>_>) <- they remind me of those anti-depression pill commercials,with the bouncing bubble thing. ( '_' )
